I used to go to this coffee and study/book lounge by Pike and Melrose in Seattle called The Bauhaus, where if you walk around at night, the buildings look soo big and hazy in the background, just like on this photo. I grew up when the Seattle sound of Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and Soundgarden was giving birth to the Grunge Style. All of a sudden, our everyday attire was being seen on the runway. Made no sense, really as the style is meant to be "non-conformist". Little did the outside world know why we wrap our plaid flannels around our waist a lot, which by the way, didn't come from The Gap, but mostly from our father's closet. It wasn't merely an accessory. Since rain is very constant and the weather being on the cold side and cloudy, flannel shirts come in handy. The weather is also very bipolar that you can experience hail, snow, rain and sun in one day. So flannel shirts makes for a perfect lightweight jacket without wearing, well, a jacket. :)
