I wasn't sure how hard it would be to recreate Rachel from Blade Runner. She has such an iconic look with that vintage swooped-up hairdo and a Black Suit. How hard can it be? The hair, I thought would be the toughest of all to find, but in SL, someone had already recreated Rachel's hair and called it, easy enough, "Rachel". No, my problem area was the Black Suit. I searched through the Second Life Market Place to find just the perfect one and it was tough since I am looking for a mid-length and some were either too short or too long for my liking. I finally came across this gorgeous ISON Black Jacket, a very structured, well-made, and in a way futuristic, with the cut-out in front. though Rachel's jacket doesn't really have that in the movie, I thought this would definitely do. If I had it my way, it would have the shoulder pads as well. ;) The second hardest task was finding a skirt to go with this jacket. Now, this jacket actually comes with a built-in skirt. However, it's too short for it to be a full pencil skirt. ISON did have a pencil skirt in their shop that I tried, but the belt was showing through. My friend Dani was helping me find one and she found one at TETRA that was a PERFECT fit! It almost looks like they were meant to be together.
As far as makeup, I already had most of the items in my inventory, but I wanted to put on this eyeshadow from Knife Party, that I just recently purchased at the Black Fair. It has some smokiness and drama that I thought is perfect for the Rachel look. I was very strict about the color of lipstick as well and tried on many different shades until I came across this one by RAVENDREATION that I love on her so much.
The most important part and what completes "Rachel" is of course her eyes. Deckard (Harrison Ford) knew what color her eyes were when he was presented with a replica of Rachel. She had green eyes.
