When I started playing Second Life again, I was so excited to see so many new creations and locations and to experience the world that I had forgotten about. What comes so naturally when you are out in about is meeting new people and friends. It has only been a few weeks for me, and I have already met a few people that I would love to become long-time friends with. The joy and anticipation of forming these new connections, even in a virtual world, is truly exhilarating.
Now, I won't sugarcoat it-not every encounter in Second Life is a perfect match. In fact, you might find yourself fending off romantic advances or even the occasional nibble! But amidst the unpredictability, there's always the potential to find a kindred spirit, someone whose company you crave and who adds a new dimension to your virtual experience.
I found what I consider my first friend here in SL. He doesn't mind me talking about him here, though I have only known him a few days. I can tell there is a mutual desire to be around each other no matter what we are doing. When you make a friend here, get ready for some non-stop teleporting action! We're constantly moving from one virtual location to another, exploring new places and experiences together. For instance, I might take him to a virtual beach I love, and he might show me a virtual concert venue he's a fan of. And the wonderful thing is that they want to do the same for you. You want to start exploring together. It's a really nice feeling, and it's accelerating! Because you don't know where you're going. But you want to go along for the ride, no matter where it will take you.
As my friend and I explored, I teleported him to a place I thought might have live music, Hotlana Blues. Though they didn't have a live band that night, they had a DJ and a wonderful host who lit up the place. So we stayed. My friend and I started dancing and enjoying ourselves with other wonderful peeps dancing with us. I met the owner of the SIM, DonPaul, who referenced where I got my name, Inara. I said, "Oh, thank god, finally, someone guessed where it's from!" If you were around to see the first and last seasons of the TV Series, Firefly, then you would know who Inara is. During our conversation, he said that he has the Firefly Ship and that I would want to see it. He gave me a landmark and told me he would put down Serenity for me to see the next day. I was shocked and delighted! I'm always happy when people do unexpected things for others! This photo is me in front of Serenity. No words. Just happiness. <3
